8 reasons why drinking water sitting is healthier than drinking water standing:

Around 90% things in our life we do subconsciously and only 10% consciously. We are drinking water on a daily basis without even thinking about that, mainly because our interoceptive sensory system is sending signals that we are thirsty. But we are not thinking does water should be cold or room temperature, should we drink before the meal or during or after the meal, should I use glass or plastic bottle, etc. But did you ever ask yourself should we drink water standing or sitting? You can find out now.
1. Standing and drinking water can cause arthritis because of the greater accumulation of fluids in the joints.
2. Water splashes on the stomach wall during standing and can cause long term damage to digestive system and the gastrointestinal tract.
3. People remain thirsty when drinking water standing. Sit and have a smaller sips to truly quench your thirst.
4. People can suffer from indigestion from drinking water standing because muscles and nervous system are less relaxed comparing to sitting.
5. Kidneys doesn’t filter water properly during standing position because impurities can remain in the kidneys and bladder which can lead to urinary tract disorder.
6. Drinking water in standing position doesn’t dilute the acid levels in the body. Water should be consumed in slow, small swigs while sitting to properly dilute the acids.
7. Drinking water in standing position can cause ulcers and heartburn. Because of the splashing the lower half of the esophagus very hard and disturb the sphincter, this reaction can cause burning sensation.
8. Nerves can be tense when you drink water standing because ‘fight and flight system’ is activated. While sitting parasympathetic system is activating ‘rest and digest system’ to help you to calm your senses and ease process of digestion.
